On Labor Day weekend, I got an opportunity that involved the Michael Jackson family. After I was featured on ABC's Secret Millionaire, apparently, Mrs. Katherine Jackson, Michael Jackson's mom saw the program. Because the Jacksons are from Gary, Indiana, and because the show was set in Gary, Indiana, Mrs. Jackson watched the program. Of course, I really didn't know who watched this program or who resided in the city in which the show was featured.
Months had passed. In fact, over a year had passed when we got the call that Mrs. Jackson was interested in having my cohort Coach Tony Branch as well as I come to assist with a celebration of her son's life. Here, Coach Tony who is from Gary, Indiana touched Mrs. Jackson heart strings with the willingness to give of self to make certain his basketball girls' had a chance to head to college. Furthermore, she appreciated the donations I gave to support Coach Tony and the other community service programs in Gary, Indiana, the city that her children was raised.
Upon arriving in Gary, Indiana a second time, this time to emcee the celebration of life party for Michael Jackson, I was reminded of how much the city is in need of a way for positive. Sadly, a lot of houses are rundown, the schools have been in disrepair, and there are vacant houses and businesses all over the place. I became pleased to have an opportunity to hob-knob together with the Jackson's while providing a totally free community event to the depressed town of Gary.
Despite hardship, the community members were gracious with their smiles. Coming out to dance and sing, hoping to see the Michael's family members, they supported the memory of Michael inspite of the heat and humidity. Chances such as this appear for me not out of luck as some may say. Luck had nothing to do with it. Circumstances came as a result of being diligent in my business practice and aligning myself with great people. Furthermore, it started from selecting the best TV show to be on only after careful consideration!
The reason the Secret Millionaire, ABC's hit Television show was popular for the Jackson's was for many reasons. The Jackson's are dedicated to the Gary, Indiana community, charitable organizations, and youth. My episode of Secret Millionaire was shot in Gary, the community the Jackson's grew up in and still pay a visit to. The program featured me living in that community helping out to facilitate charitable organizations for increasing the ability for doing positive things for that area. Furthermore, the program allowed me to find a group that supported underprivileged youth who got a skill and talent in order to do more in their future.
Each one of these circumstances led the Jackson's to associate positivity with the program and with what both Coach Tony and I were doing for the program. We were collaborating ways to generate positive relationships to develop community, support youth, as well as help others. There is no luck when it comes to following through. The action produces fortunate circumstances. The action generated fortunate circumstances for everyone concerned, and I'm grateful for the opportunities that it opened.
As an entrepreneur, you should be continually thinking about the possible bigger picture to everything you do. Everywhere you speak, everywhere you go, you have the chance of meeting the right person, the right organization which will alter the course of your future. Allow these possibilities to happen for you personally by being aware of the possibility. In the event the possibility doesn't present itself, then create the possibility yourself.
